With US and NATO forces rushing to train enough troops and police to completely take over and allow foreign soldiers to exit Afghanistan by 2014, Pakistani leadership stepped up its efforts to seek a “regional” solution to the conflict in the war-torn country. President Asif Ali Zardari will visit Kabul on Tuesday and is expected to meet with Afghan President Hamid Karzai to discuss matters of bilateral interest as well as counter-extremism and reconciliation with the Taliban, according to his spokesman Fathatullah Babar. The president’s Kabul visit comes less than a week after his Iran trip during which he held in-depth discussions with the Islamic Republic’s leadership on Afghanistan’s future.
