Last weekend’s helicopter crash that killed 30 American troops and a wave of recent high-profile attacks and assassinations in Afghanistan have raised fears over the extent of Washington’s progress in the conflict. Despite these setbacks, US President Obama pledged on Monday to go ahead with his Afghan war plan. On the other hand, Pentagon also tried to dispel concerns over a militant resurgence.
