US President Barack Obama on Monday reassured Jewish donors he strongly backs Israel, emphasizing close relations between the Jewish state and the US, but also stressing that changing realities in the Middle East call for a fresh approach for the region. “Both the United States and Israel are going to have to look at this new landscape with fresh eyes. It’s not going to be sufficient for us just to keep on doing the same things," the president said at a fundraising dinner organized by Americans in Support of a Strong US-Israel Relationship. Obama addressed a gathering of around 80 people one month after his Middle East speech exposed differences between Washington and Jerusalem.
