A new regulation will be formulated for the trial of terror suspects currently being detained by Pakistani security forces in tribal regions, local media reported Monday. Under the legislation, punishments as harsh as death penalty, lifetime imprisonment or 10-year imprisonment can be awarded based on the nature of crime while separate detention facilities will also be set up for terrorists. Sources say that the new legislation called “Action In Aid of Civil Power Regulation 2011” will take effect from Feb 2008 and be applicable against terrorists being held in Swat and other tribal regions.
