NATO military jets launched heavy air assaults early Tuesday on Libya’s capital Tripoli. According to witnesses, up to five loud explosions were heard in the city. The air assaults struck an office compound used by the government, shattered windows of a hospital and knocked down a communications tower. Reports claim that a building where the family members of Col. Muammar Qaddafi reside may have been hit as well. The air assaults come after a separate NATO bombardment on Monday targeted Qaddafi’s weapon depots close to the western city of Zintan.
