Several members of Wolesti Jirga claimed on Monday they had reliable information that another bank in Afghanistan, Azizi Private Bank, was about to collapse because of mismanagement. The bank has been working in the country for five years. “I have information showing the bank is in crisis,” Mr. Abdul Zahir Qadir, an official from the eastern province of Nangarhar, told the house. He also said that a top official at the bank had requested him to not raise the matter in the house. “He offered me a bribe of one million dollars.” Last year, Afghanistan’s main private bank, Kabul Bank, was brought to the verge of collapse after million of dollars in bad loans were revealed.
