Context
Militants killed four members of a local peace committee in the Akakhel Darra area of Khyber Agency on Thursday. Insurgents attacked the peace committee early morning, engaging in a prolonged shootout. The clash resulted in the death of four. One of the committee members was beheaded and his head was taken by the militants. Banned network Lashkar-i-Islam is believed to be responsible for this deadly attack. The military responded by destroying the house of the group’s commander Sher Wali. In light of the worsening security, a curfew has been imposed in the Bara year after nearly three years. An operation against the Lashkar has also begun in the region. Hundreds of families have fled their villages and settled at the Jalozai camp located in Nowshera.
