Iran Shoots down US Drone near Nuclear Plant

A high-ranking Iranian official said Wednesday that Iran’s security forces have gunned down a US drone aircraft close to Fordo nuclear enrichment plant in central Iran, according to Fars news service. The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps’ Air Defense units shot the spy aircraft as it was flying close to the site in the central province of Qom to collect information for the CIA, Ali Aqazadeh Dafsari, member of the Iranian Parliament’s Foreign Policy and National Security Commission, was quoted as saying. The news comes one day after Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast said that the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program was moving forward smoothly.
