Crackdown on demonstrators in Syria is that country’s internal matter and any foreign intervention in that issue can’t be justified, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast stated on Tuesday. The remarks came just hours after UK Foreign Secretary William Hague demanded more international pressure on Bashar Assad and warned that military intervention wasn’t a remote possibility. Around 2,000 people are believed to have died since demonstrations started in the southern Syrian city of Deraa in March.
