A recent report by the Jammu and Kashmir State Human Rights Commission (J&KSHRC) reveals that more than 2000 bodies have been found in unmarked graves in dozens of villages in Kashmir near the Line of Control (LOC). The report comes after a three year inquiry and is the first official statement on the burying of civilians in unmarked graves. Indian authorities have denied human rights violations in Kashmir and claim that most of the missing were Kashmiri youths who crossed into Pakistan for weapons training. Human rights group claim some 8,000 people have disappeared in the region’s two-decades of conflict.
