Context
The IMF has temporarily closed its offices in Pakistan. An official from the organization has cited security as the reason for the closure. The official said the staff was working from home and was conducting its meetings through email and telephone. The advice for the shutting down of the office allegedly came from IMF headquarters in Washington which has also advised its personnel to restrict travel.
The Asian Bank and the World Bank are currently still operating normally in the country with private and government security arrangements in place.
