Hezbullah in Lebanon is getting ready for a possible conflict with Israel in an attempt to fend off Western pressure to overthrow the regime of Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad, its key ally, people close to the Shia militant group have revealed. Hezbullah is watching the events in Damascus with concern and is committed to stop the West from exploiting the popular revolt to topple Assad. The group had supported anti-government campaigns that overthrew Western-backed leaders of Egypt and Tunisia, but officials say that it wouldn’t just watch as global pressure on Assad mounts to give in to protestors.
