US drones struck in part of South and North Waziristan on Thursday. Three people were killed and four were injured in strikes in the Bermal tehsil in South Waziristan. Two missiles were fired earlier in the day at a compound in Dandey Darpakhel village in North Waziristan. The strike is believed to have killed Jalil Haqqani, a logistics commander of the Haqqani network. Three other militants belonging to the group were also killed in the attack.

The US has increasingly relied on drones and unmanned aircrafts to target militants in the tribal belts of Pakistan. Over 30 drone strikes are reported in the country since May 2011. Mohammed Haqqani, brother of Sirajuddin, was also killed in a US drone attack in February of the last year. Washington has repeatedly targeted and destroyed Haqqani hideouts in the country.
