G7 Policymakers Discuss Japan Crisis

France has organized a meeting between central bankers and finance ministers from the G7 countries to evaluate the possible economic impact of the catastrophe in Japan and a likely response. French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde said after a cabinet meeting today that she convened the talks to determine how to respond on an economic level. Another French official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that the discussions would cover initiatives to assist Japan, calm financial markets and improve liquidity if required.
