More than half of Egypt’s population wants to annul the peace agreement with Israel, said a new poll conducted by the Pew Research Center. The survey measured sentiments in the country three months following the beginning of the unrest in Cairo. In response to the poll, the US Department of State said, “the Egyptian army has pledged to uphold international agreements forged by Egypt, including the 1979 peace agreement with Israel.” The poll discovered that 54% of Egyptians supported the termination of peace deal with Jerusalem and only 36% wanted to continue with that agreement.
