President Hu Jintao of China warned on Wednesday that air assaults against Libya could violate the United Nations resolution on that country if innocent lives are lost in the process. Speaking at a joint press conference with his visiting French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy, Hu further said the use of force won’t stop the armed political face-off in Libya. Sarkozy is in China to attend a summit of the G-20 countries. France is a strong supporter of the military campaign against Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi. China refrained from the Security Council vote on the North African country, but didn’t veto the resolution.
