China stated today it might suspend some of its military exchanges with US to protest against arms sale to Taiwan. China’s Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi in a meeting with US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton in New York asked the US to reconsider the $3.5 billion package to Taiwan.
Beijing and Washington are set to discuss joint military exercises such as maritime safety and cooperation at the U.S. Pacific Command in Hawaii. The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Tuesday in a statement said the sale which is “the wrong actions by the U.S. in the Taiwan Strait will inevitably harm U.S.-China relations, as well as security and military cooperation and exchanges.”
