China on Tuesday announced it would support Pakistan’s efforts to fight terrorism. Responding to Osama bin Laden’s assassination by US forces on Monday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jiang Yu said that Pakistan had been "at the forefront" of the global campaign against terrorism, adding that the country’s anti-terror initiatives had been “forceful”. Jiang further said that Beijing supported Islamabad developing and executing its strategy against terrorism "based on its own conditions". Her remarks came at a time when Pakistan is facing international criticism for the failure of its intelligence and military to catch Bin Laden and know where he was hiding all along.
