As Afghan Peace Talks Speed Up, Militant Activity Increase in Orakzai And Kurram Agency

Pakistan warplanes struck militant hideouts in the Orakzai district of northwestern tribal area on Wednesday, killing at least 12 insurgents. Reports indicate the hideouts belonged to the Mullah Toofan and Commander Moheyuddin. According to Pakistan military official, Moheyuddin may have been killed in the bombing.

In Kurram Agency, eight military officials were killed while 15 sustained injuries on Tuesday when militants ambushed a check post in Jogi area. In retaliatory attack, 30 militants also died.The Jogi check post was cleared last week by the security forces with deployment of gunships and additional troops.
