Context
With the calls for new provinces echoing around Pakistan, the President of Awami National Party (ANP) Senator Afrasiab Khattak on Tuesday demanded the establishment of a South Pukhtunkhawa province for Pushtuns living in Balochistan. Additionally, he wants the Tribal Areas to merge with Khyber Pukhtunkhawa province.
Many analysts believe the Pakistan People’s Party’s announcement to establish the Saraiki Province has encouraged other political parties and nationalist groups to demand new provinces.
