Detained Indian anti-corruption campaigner Anna Hazare has accepted a police offer that will allow him to go ahead with hunger strike for 15 days in a park, his aide said. In a note posted on the social website Twitter, Kiran Bedi announced that Hazare would start his fast on Thursday. He had formerly pledged to remain in prison in Delhiās Tihar jail unless he was allowed to recommence the protest, which led to his detention on Tuesday. His arrest sparked mass protests across India.
