Media reports suggest that Al-Qaeda’s command will now be taken over by a handful of senior commanders who were chosen before the death of the group’s leader Osama bin Laden, killed Monday in a ground operation by US forces in Abbottabad, around 65 km north of Islamabad. After the death of Bin Laden, Pakistan will replace Afghanistan as the main war theater, according to Al-Qaeda insiders. Militant sources in the tribal area of North Waziristan said that meetings had been held in the city of Mir Ali to devise strategies. They confirmed a fierce and immediate retaliation against Islamabad and annulment of all peace deals with the Pakistani military.
