China has vowed to diversify trade ties with Brazil and increase imports from the largest economy in South America, as Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff started her first presidential visit outside Latin America Tuesday. Rousseff and her Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao signed a joint statement, which highlighted China’s commitment to diversify trade ties following talks between the two leaders. Both leaders agreed on working closely to reform international monetary and financial systems under the framework of the G20, the statement said. They also decided to boost the registration of Brazilian beef and poultry firms and pledged to accelerate measures to add new items to their export and import lists.
