Transfer of Power Begins In Some Parts of Afghanistan

Context
Afghan President Hamid Karzai outlined the first phase of his power transferring plan by naming the seven regions where Afghan military will take charge of security. These transfers of power are due to start in July, with coalition forces moving to a “supporting” role. Other parts will follow in different stages, with local troops scheduled to take full control of Afghanistan by 2014.
