Pakistan on Sunday warned Kabul its troops would resort to “hot pursuit” of Taliban, if attacks from across the border continued. Pakistan complained that after successful operations by its army, militants were able to take refugee across the border. One diplomat who wished not to be named, told reporters Islamabad had warned Kabul the border attacks were unacceptable and were a breach of the country’s sovereignty. In light of heightened militant activity the two countries agreed to deploy additional troops along Chitral and Dir, to stop the Taliban’s ambush through Afghanistan.

Nearly 30 security officials were killed in August when a check post in Chitral was attacked by militants.
