King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia met with Turkish President Abdullah Gul on Sunday at the royal palace in Jeddah. They discussed the ongoing international and regional developments as well as the prospects of ties between the two nations and ways of boosting them. President Gul’s trip comes within an understanding between Ankara and Riyadh regarding the need to put an end to the brutal crackdown on peaceful demonstrators in Syria. King Abdullah demanded a halt to the violence in Syria last week and called back the Saudi ambassador from Damascus.
