As Washington contemplates how swiftly to withdraw forces from embattled Afghanistan, military leadership and politicians are split over the matter. President Obama is getting ready to deliver a major speech on this issue on Wednesday. Many US lawmakers and most of the public are simply tired of the 10-year war, and some within the media are saying that the recent killing of Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden justifies a quick pullout. However, military and defense analysts argue that this wouldn’t be wise- though Al-Qaeda has been severely weakend, it still has the capability to launch attacks on the West.
