US President Barack Obama doesn’t require congressional permission for America to continue to participate in the NATO-led mission in Libya, the White House said on Wednesday. In a 32-page report, the White House claimed that Obama already had legal approval to carry out military operation in the North African country. A Vietnam War-period law says that Congress must authorize involvement in wars lasting more than 60 days. The president has been accused by the members of Congress of defying the law since May 20, when that 60-day deadline expired.
