]]> In an attempt to boost regional economic cooperation, Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan have agreed on reviving Quadrilateral Traffic in Transit Agreement (QTTA) signed between Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, China and Pakistan in 2004. The decision was announced in a meeting between PM Almazbek Atambaev and PM Gillani. After securing closer economic partnership with Tajikistan and signing a Free Trade Agreement with China, Pakistan is now seeking assistance from Kyrgyzstan in communication, trade and other areas. Kyrgyzstan is willing to help Pakistan, which wants to acquire electricity from it via Afghanistan. Unsurprisingly, Kyrgyzstan has expressed interest in using Pakistani seaports, particularly that of Gawadar. Agreement was also signed to train Kyrgyz military personnel at Pakistan’s defense institutions.
