Former Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi revealed on Tuesday that he had resigned from his post because he was being forced to give diplomatic immunity to Raymond Davis. Qureishi told reporters that he had tendered his resignation on January 30, three days after the Davis incident to President Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. He criticized both Zardari and Gilani, claiming they did not have the skills to fix the problems of the country; “They do not have the substance or intellectual depth to help the country solve its problems,” he said.

On being asked what his future political ambitions were, and if he would join Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Qureshi said he would make the announcement of his decision on November 27 at a political rally in Ghotki. He also said that he maintained good relations with PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, and would be willing to meet the former prime minister if called upon.
