NATO officials stated on Wednesday it has no intention of intervening in Iran and that they favor dialogue and diplomatic solutions in the region. Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said, “let me stress that NATO has no intention whatsoever to intervene in Iran and NATO is not engaged as an alliance in the Iran question.”

NATO cautioned the US against confronting Iran in a military dispute and Rasmussen urged Tehran to follow UN directives regarding its nuclear ambitions. Iran has called the US “irrational” with Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi telling reporters his country was prepared for the worst. Furthermore, British troops are also believed to be preparing for action against Tehran.

Meanwhile, the Israeli ministry confirmed on Wednesday that it had tested a rocket propulsion system. “Israel today carried out the test of a rocket propulsion system from the Palmachim base,” near Rishon LeZion, a military statement said. The ballistic missiles were fired from a military base inside the country.

The tests are believed to be part of the government’s preparation for military action against Iran. According to reports, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had been trying to persuade his cabinet to back military action against archenemy Tehran.
