<title>Kenya, Ethiopia and South Sudan have agreed to jointly launch the $25 billion project to build a port, oil refinery, and rail network near the UN-heritage site island of Lamu. The project is expected to become the corridor for the economic development and vital transport for the region. All three countries will share the cost with the contribution from China. The project envisions 32 port berths connected by an extensive rail network from South Sudan to Kenya and Ethiopia. The project will also allow South Sudan to bring its crude oil to the international community. However, on the very same day the project was launched in Kenya, Sudanese plans bombed South Sudan. US State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland stated in a statement. &#8220;Such incidents are unacceptable and threaten to escalate tensions between the two states. Additionally, continued aerial attacks on civilian targets by the Sudan Armed Forces are deplorable and constitute violations of international law for which there must be accountability.&#8221; She added that US is continuing to exert on the government of South Sudan &#8221; the need to respect the sovereignty of Sudan and immediately end any military support for Sudan People&#8217;s Liberation Movement-North rebels.&#8221;</title>
