France, UK, and US have begun enforcement of the no-fly zone over Libya. As part of this effort, a total of about 120 Tomahawk missiles were fired today to cripple Libya’s air defense system. Even though UN Security Council resolution 1973 has ruled out the use of ground forces in Libya, it’s hard to see how the mission can be accomplished without their use. In all likely hood, the first phase of disabling Libya’s air defenses would be followed by all out civil war, with rebels supported by special forces from US, UK, and France.

The month of March saw two wars starting in the Arab world. One of them was initiated by Saudi led Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) intervention in Bahrain on March 14, and the other one commenced in Libya today.
