Context

Around 68 persons were killed and more than 80 others wounded on Friday morning in twin-suicide bomb explosions at a military training compound in the northwestern Pakistani town of Charsadda, according to local authorities. Media reports said that the attack happened at around 6.00 am Pakistan time when a horse cart and a motorbike both packed with explosives rammed into a Frontier Corps (FC) training compound in the Shabqadar district of Charsadda. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack.

The incident is being widely interpreted as an attack to avenge the death of Osama, and more serious attacks are likely to follow. The incident is hardening perceptions in Pakistan that the country is paying a disproportionately high price for US led war against extremists.
