Thousands of Syrians joined anti-government demonstrations on Friday demanding an end to President Assad’s regime, activists and witnesses said. Over 550 civilians and 100 troops have died since the anti-regime revolt, inspired by uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia, started in March, human rights groups reported.
