A Saudi diplomat, who was also serving as a security officer at the Saudi Arabian consulate in Karachi, was killed in drive-by shooting on Monday. The man, identified as Hasan Al-Kahtani, was shot dead by at least four attackers riding two motorbikes, who intercepted his car shortly after he departed from his house at around 9 am. This was the second time the mission has been attacked since the death of Bin Laden.

There are a number of players who would be interested in countering the recent rapprochement between the Saudi’s and Pakistan. However, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan TTP) denied involvement in the attack. Meanwhile, Pakistan arrested a senior Al Qaeda leader Muhammad Ali Qasim Yaqub alias Abu Sohaib Al Makki in Karachi yesterday.

“According to preliminary investigations, Al Makki is a Yemeni national and has been working directly under the Al Qaeda leaders along the Pak-Afghan border. His arrest is a major development in unravelling the Al Qaeda network operating in the region,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
