British Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Nicolas Sarkozy visited Libya to show support for the National Transitional Council (NTC). The two leaders, who arrived in the Libyan capital of Tripoli on Thursday, also visited the eastern city of Benghzai; the frontier in the fight against Gaddafi forces.

The two heads of state held a joint press conference with Mahmoud Jibril, head of the NTC. PM Cameron said his country would assist Libya in rebuilding efforts and announced Britain would release 12 billion pounds in Libyan assets, as soon as a UN Security Council resolution on Libya was passed. On the other hand, French President Sarkozy told Libyans they “can count on our friendship and admiration.”
